Ideas
petition for a logseq like notes app that’s atproto compatible, self host-able for sync stuff, and built a modern tech stack like rust+typescript that people can actually contribute to
atproto / acitivtypub / bsky misinfo labeler when just went on a word muting spree cuz i cannot
someone needs to make a tiktok to skylight / atproto following list where 1. make list followings on tiktok (user & display name) 2. show list of users matching 1 on atmosphere w option to quick follow 3. remove from list if found + no false-positive reported 4. send DM when new users match 1 found
Unrelated #atproto / bsky idea: what if people could PING and GET NOTIFICATIONS FROM labeler labels? Like I could @stemlabels.xyz science communicators (somehow, UI and stuff idk) and those subscribed for notifs would get one for that post.
midnight atproto idea: let us record our name / handle pronunciation so client apps can include them valid for all apps but esp @protopro.blue
Just include the ability for people to record how to say their names! It will be helpful for EVERYONE AT THE CON!
i’m sickly and uncomfy but bsky bot/service idea just dropped: - total number of typos per user - typos as % of posts - number of typos they bothered correcting out of total yes this is because I just made a post w a typo and couldn’t be arsed to repost
here’s your daily morning atproto idea: bluesky bot that responds to FAQs about Bluesky / moderation / PDSs / atproto / etc.
this would also work for atproto app suggestions:
new idea just dropped in my brain: feed recommendations based on • your social network (following and who they follow) • your saved / pinned feeds • your likes you’re welcome @bsky.app @internet.bsky.social
has anyone made a good library for bsky custom feeds yet? it would be cool to integrate that with a custom hosting provider so you could just upload a small rust program and immediately get a custom feed from it.
OKAY WAIT HOLD UP what about discord meets canny but on atproto? discord = community chat, helping, announcements. canny = better bug and feature request tracking, clearer timelines. if i were an #atdev i’d build it tbh but alas i’m busy gettin a phd sry
you know what? we don’t just need bookmarks on the atprotocol we need a “save to read later” feature too. sometimes i wanna just read a bunch of short skeets, other times i have the energy to read them threads and links and photos and leaflets but i’m not gonna do it if it’s not easy to save /lazy
happy sunday here's some @leaflet.pub ideas popping into my head today while doing some atproto work: - tables as a block type - docs with the ability for anyone with link ADD content but not remove it! this could be a neat way for large community collab by e.g. adding just a few lines
ok who out there has made / is working on / wants to work on - #stealmyidea & propose to @graze.social - it easier to connect with people from other social media apps over here on @bsky.app / @atproto.com? cuz i just realized @personalfinanceclub.com has been here + posting regularly for 3 months
Ideas from Others
I'm helping to organize a toy drive and it's very difficult to find a good way to create a registry without relying on Amazon or Target. What are others using? I am trying out Walmart [which is not great either but very few good options].
A Bluesky appview that uses a separate lexicon for downvotes, and allows you to add a crew of "verified downvoters" that gate posts for you once they get enough bad vibes from your crew.
yeah the actual doing is pretty straightforward but the degree to which you have to understand The Protocol is still fairly significant- would be nice to have a ‘so I got suspended, how do I save my stuff…’ guide
Greetings 🖖 @atprotocol.dev Who has connections in #fashion? Tech brief : brand size database of measurements (arm length/inseam) for brands Customer inputs measurements and the “ai” looks for results from Mercari, Poshmark, etc. premium : stylists Business model #shopcider @mcuban.bsky.social
Marks company can do some amazing pricing on generic drugs. I am on Medicare and have a supplemental policy. There are some medication I take that are cheaper through his company than my copayment. If you are on a fixed income or not I recommend you shop prices on all medications.
I want sticker packs for social media, for the same reason I want sticker packs in my group chats. Bonus points: * compatible with some open format (see signalstickers.org) * remembers alt text, and reuses canonical url * hosted as a well known route in my PDS for all apps to access???
i would love if there was an ATProto client that had a visual and interactive map of data like this there would be more ways to explore content/data than our normal expectation of scrolling a single column of posts
oh yeah i like this
need to write a bluesky thread tree visualizer to understand just how insane the garage door aka hacked smart home thread is i feel like it’s at like >500 child threads now for sure
Thoughts
been thinking why there isn’t more movement on atproto reddit alts and i just had a wild thought maybe some of it is: - people like to be anonymous on reddit - even people who are otherwise not anon on other socials - atproto = shared identity private accounts / data doesn’t fixed that but what if
me: i should learn front end web dev so i can help make atproto apps prettier and join art x code interests my other hobbies: not again my body: do you hate us me: but i wanna
reason 356892 why companies and apps should use creative names instead of things you can find in a dictionary: easier to find mentions of said company across social media this is in response to trying to make feeds. thank you for your attention. #atproto @obsidian.md @notion.com @sprk.so and more
Questions
ELIS5 #atproto folks: i have a shitty half-baked website (SPA; whatever that means i forget, i know what the acronym stands for tho) on github. is this something i can do on tangled now or another way on atproto and how inexperienced can i be to make it happen girl can code but like, for science.
#atproto questions I’ve had that became more relevant with the recent UK ID news: 1. How expensive is it to host a PDS? How does that scale with # of users/amount of content? Also, is it correct to assume the owner is liable for moderation? 2. How does cost of hosting PDS vs fedi instance compare?
